Treatment techniques
Physiotherapy treatment may include:
- Acupuncture: to help improve local blood flow and stimulate local nerve activity for optimal healing and to help re-establish the body’s chi (carried out by our AACP registered physiotherapists)
- Advice: on how to best manage your problem at that time
- Deep tissue massage/ Soft tissue release: to help regain flexibility in the tissues and help improve local blood flow
- Electrotherapy: (including ultrasound, shortwave diathermy, biofeedback, muscle stimulation) to stimulate and optimise the biochemical conditions for healing at the site of injury
- Manipulation: small, controlled, high speed movements aimed at the spinal joints as another means to help regain movement and reduce pain
- Mobilisations: graded passive oscillations to spinal and peripheral joints to help regain movement and reduce pain
- Postural correction advice: for home, office, car. A full ergonomic workstation assessment service is available upon request
- Stretching exercises: to return optimal soft tissue (muscle, tendon, ligament, fascia and skin) to normal flexibility and mobility
- Strengthening exercises: to regain the strength lost through injury or poor posture and to address muscle inbalance
